Education & Youth Development

We believe working with schools is the best way to positively affect the youth in our community. We continue to demonstrate the importance of corporations partnering with schools to make a difference in our children's lives. Glen's Fresh Market offers several programs to raise funds for schools: School Days, Upromise, and Cash for Labels. These programs are offered to support the schools that keep West Michigan strong. Hunger Relief

Glen's Fresh Market and Spartan Stores are committed to meeting the increased need for food in our communities. We are dedicated to increasing public awareness of the extreme hunger problem that exists in our local neighborhoods. Spartan Stores annually contributes over 4 million pounds of food to state food banks.

Habitat for Humanity

Spartan Stores Steps Up in your Neighborhood and is proud to partner with Habitat for Humanity of Michigan. This partnership began in 2006 and has grown to a state sponsorship. Health & Wellbeing

Spartan Stores continued its 23-year partnership with Special Olympics Michigan to give children and adults with intellectual disabilities the opportunity to develop physical fitness through participation in athletic training and competitions. With the help of Spartan independent retailers, associates and consumers, Spartan Stores has contributed over $6.8 million to Special Olympics Michigan since 1985 to support this outstanding program and its athletes. Hundreds of Spartan associates also volunteer their time at the State Summer Games each year.

Diversity

Glen's Fresh Market has a strong commitment to diversity in the work place and our community. We strive to enhance the quality of life for our associates, consumers and the communities in which we serve. Spartan Stores partnered with Habitat for Humanity to sponsor "The House that Spartan Built." This Grand Rapids home was built for a local family through dollars donated through a month-long scanning program at all Glen's Fresh Market stores. Spartan volunteers stepped up to help with hundreds of hours to build the home.
